Baby Sock Monitor Explained: A UK Buyer's Guide
Short answer: A baby sock monitor is a fabric wrap sock with a sensor pod, a parent base station and a phone app. It shows live pulse rate, oxygen and sleep, with light and sound alerts on the base when readings leave the preset range. It is a consumer home monitor. It does not replace watching your baby in person or medical care.
What is a baby sock monitor?
A baby sock monitor sits on baby’s foot. This mint kit uses a fabric wrap sock, a clip-in sensor pod, a round bedside base station and a companion app. The app shows live pulse rate, oxygen and sleep sessions, including wakings. When readings leave the preset range, the base alerts with light and sound and the app asks you to check on baby.
A camera shows the cot. The sock adds pulse, oxygen and sleep. Many UK families use both. NHS and The Lullaby Trust safer-sleep advice still applies: put baby on their back in a clear, flat cot.
How does the sock monitor work?
Plug in the parent base station. Fit the sensor pod in the fabric sock and wrap it on baby’s foot so it sits snug. Open the companion app for live pulse rate, oxygen and sleep. Keep the base nearby so you can see and hear alerts. Sleep history, pulse, oxygen and movement trends stay in the app.
This Mint colourway includes one fabric sensor sock and one round parent base station. The sock sensor is rechargeable. The base station stays on mains power.
What should UK parents look for?
Look at the sock fit, whether there is a bedside base with light and sound, and whether the app shows pulse, oxygen and sleep. This shop sells the sock, base and app. It is a consumer home monitor.
